1300 MW solární energie pro Los Angeles
Jedna z největších solárních elektráren má díky nové dohodě mezi společnostmi Southern California Edison a BrightSource vyrůst v poušti poblíž Los Angeles v Kalifornii. S výkonem 1300 MW se zařadí mezi největší solární instalace v historii, která svým výkonem předčí i některé jaderné elektrárny. Solární elektrárna se bude skládat ze sedmi částí a první z nich by měla být dokončena v roce 2013. V plném rozsahu pak poskytne elektřinu pro 845 000 domácností. Jak asi správně očekáváte, nepůjde o klasickou fotovoltaickou elektrárnu, nýbrž o solární termální elektrárnu, což je technologie lépe uzpůsobená pro instalace podobných rozměrů. Sluneční světlo je zde koncentrováno na ohřívač, který přemění kapalinu v páru a ta roztáčí turbíny. Společnost BrightSource, dříve známá pod jménem Luz International, má s konstrukcí podobných elektráren bohaté zkušenosti. Už v 80. letech jednu takovou postavila v poušti Mojave, nicméně poté co významně poklesly ceny ropy a zemního plynu, stal se její provoz nevýhodným. Firma se proto přestěhovala do Izraele, kde pokračovala ve vývoji své technologie. A teď se s velkou slávou vrací. Není ale sama, na paty jí šlape celá řada dalších – například eSolar, který je financován neziskovou organizací Google.org. Jakmile bude 1300MW solární termální elektrárna poblíž Los Angeles dokončena, zabere 10 500 akrů půdy.

Crude oil must be taxed at $160 per barrel(42 gal) and, this enregy consumption tax‘, be offset by making Federal Income Tax begin at $60k. Only with a substantial and tangible dollar consequence/reward, will there be the incentive to conserve enregy. Until the price of gas is $5 to $7 per gallon, Americans will not reduce their over consumption and enregy waste. In the mean time, the USA continues its hedonist enregy waste and gives away its economic and political wealth to the Middle East and China.Mass transit must become FREE, SAFE, CLEAN, and CONVENIENT; thereby rewarding those who reduce their driving.Ford, GM, and Chrysler continue toward bankrupt, yet continue to do business as usual. They must transition to the lucrative business of building solar and wind enregy producers‘ for the world’s 6.7 BILLION people reason$. They already have the needed infrastructure to mass produce, sell, and install these products. Failure to innovate the auto industry away from enregy consumption to enregy production will cause the ruin our economy and the environment . Our‘ earth cannot continue to support all the automakers. We are running out of petroleum !China, India, and other former developing countries‘ have just begun to compete for the world’s remaining fossil fuel. If global demand for enregy is not dramatically reduced, world war is inevitable.Global warming continues to increases with our persistent waste and overuse of fossil fuels. Human extinction will be the reward for our failure to rapidly develop sustainable renewable enregy supplies.
